Moving from Success to Significance
“A life of significance—of really mattering—is yours for the taking, and the process I describe in this book will work for you.”
Bob Buford, Halftime
From me: Former CEO and cable TV pioneer, Bob Buford, writes this book from the perspective of his own mid-life soul-searching, re-orientation of priorities, and fully living on the other side. It’s a book of hope and confidence that, just because you or I have spent a significant amount of our life in the same career, doesn’t mean that we’re stuck in that position, industry, or occupation forever. Right now, in my early thirties, I find this refreshing.
It’s been said of our generation that we, more than any other generation, desire to live a full life; a life of significance and not just to “keep up with the Joneses.” Because life matters. Our time matters. We truly can make a difference in our corner of the world, in our spheres of influence. We desire to be apart of something so much bigger—and it’s more possible now than it’s ever been. Halftime provides thoughts to consider and steps to take as you explore, experiment, and embark on the significant life we are all made for.
For you: As you read leadership-related books, you will find quotes, sayings, or references made to Bob Buford’s work, Halftime. This book is a staple for those of us on our journey to living a significant life, a life of excitement, a whole life. Consider adding Halftime to your reading list this year. You’ll find wisdom, insight and encouragement to live out the fullness of your life at whatever stage you’re at.
