start again

February 1 – how’s it going?

You know, the goals you put together for this year. The ones you saw your friends post on Facebook, or even the friends that are “friends” on Facebook that you probably haven’t talked to in almost 5 years.

So…how’s it going?

30 days in: How’s the P90X regimen with spinach smoothies going? waking up at 4:30 am? starting 3 side hustles and loving your spouse and kids more?

I’m just kidding, I mean, I’m not doing all of those things, if you are, I mean, wow. Nice work.

Or is that the goal you thought you were going to work on this year?

Did you expect to be perfect in the first 30 days?

Did you expect to do nothing the entire month of December and then, like a light switch, turn everything on overnight?

How did that work for you?

If you’re thinking, well, I thought I could do all of it day one, but on day two I just couldn’t, because you know, the kids woke up too early and stood in front of me while working out and I accidentally tripped on them while attempting to keep up with the trainers, and then they cried, and then I got frustrated and then I sent them back to bed without even consoling them (hypothetical story of course). Guess what?

You’re normal.

The success is not found in executing your goals perfectly, it’s found on day three. Did you pick yourself up again on day three, and try again? How about day seventeen?

How about tomorrow?

Every day is a new “today,” another opportunity to say “yes” toward your goals. We overestimate what we can do in a day, but we underestimate what we can do in 30. So did you write-off your goals this year already? February is a new month.

Why not start again today.

But really, how are you doing? Not great? Awesome? I bet we, and others, can relate.
